Other than purchasing from NPCs or acquiring from monster drops, there is another way of acquiring items. Firstly, basic items will be acquired from NPCs. After dismantling these items and acquiring materials, these all can be used with monster-dropped special items to craft a new item.
Items like these will come in sets, and more bonuses will be given as one equips more of the same set. Also, items can be given different attributes, and it gives whole another level of strategic item usage.

Consumable items that are necessary for battles, can be produced by each job.
Materials of these items can be gathered by characters that have Gathering, Mining as their job skills. Through an NPC, they can turn the materials into other items. Other material produced by other job classes must be acquired from trading.
Besides mining, players can now pick herbs, and gather materials from rocks, and also use Deciphering skills to get items from chests and tombstones. These objects are randomly generated.
